Helping out at school Helping out at school is a great way to get involved in your child's education and to get to know the school staff and other parents. Here are some ways you can help: listen to children read in the classroom. Classroom Assistance During the year, many parents produce precious assistance to teachers by helping in the classroom. Some of the activities parents become involved in include listening to students read, helping with writing activities, supporting literacy and numeracy groups, science, computers, excursions and exceptional projects. Parents will be provided with guidance as to how to encourage students in the classroom. Develop concern and respect for themselves and others. Sport and Physical Activity We have physical activity programs for children from Kindergarten to Year 6, with a focus on fundamental movement skills. The participation, enjoyment and skill development of our students is the cornerstone of the school sport physical activity program. As a MSW public school we profit from the opportunities for shared activities and competitions with other schools, coordinated by school sport associations. Children are given the opportunity at this time to borrow books. We know that we need to learn about, nurture and value the cultural identity of our Aboriginal students in order to assist them to be prosperous learners. We welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family members, parents and community members to our school so that we can get to know each other, learn about the local Aboriginal community and develop shared goals and plans for Aboriginal students. An interpreter can be requested for school matters involving your kid such as enrollment, subject choice, educational progress, attendance, welfare or behavior. A member of Wesley staff transports the students from the Before School Concern in the morning and takes them to school.
