Maurice and Melissa met through playing music and have eternal dreamed of owning their own business in the music industry. Melissa and Maurice have 2 children who share their passion for music you can often see one of the children greeting our customers or causing havoc in the shop. Maurice’s earliest recollection playing drums was stealing his mothers Tupperware containers and chopsticks and playing along to ABA records. Since then Maurice has made up for lost time getting into as many bands as he could. To urge his drum habit, Maurice honed his customer service skills occupied as a sales rep selling things like paper bags and bricks (sexy!!). Musically, Maurice played drums in various ingenious bands prior moving to the cover band scene and many session gigs with the likes of Jellybean Jam, Stellar, Doc Nelson, Mark Seymour, The codependents and many more. In 2009, he returned as a drum teacher and School Director of Ba’s new Music School. 2010 saw Maurice putting his money where his mouth is after a conversation with then owner Adam Church saying healthy if you love this deposit so much, why don’t you buy it? Well he and his wife did, and they have never looked back. Maurice says We see this as an opportunity to share our passion for music, gear and everything in between with our musical community. Hailing from the Blue Mountains and growing up in a family that appreciated immense music was the begin of Melissa’s musical journey. From listening to her parents vinyl collection through to sneaking out to take singing lessons (instead of studying) Melissa found herself fronting a tall school soul band at the age of 17 and has never looked back. Melissa’s passion to sing continued to grow, performing with various soul, disco and rock bands, whilst supporting some immense artists such as Marcia Hines, Christopher Cross and Margret Ulrich to name a scanty whilst growing her career in the corporate service world. In 2005, Melissa had an opportunity for an international posting and play in a band with Maurice across Asia which to date has been a highlight of her musical career. When the opportunity arose to buy ABM MUSIC, it was the perfect time to marry her love of delivering huge service and active with music. Focusing strongly on great customer service and providing a great range of Drums and Percussion, ABM MUSIC soon became one of the largest music stores in Western Sydney. Throughout its history ABM MUSIC has become a destination store for the budding and professional musician servicing the community with its sales, repair, hire and PA needs. Both Melissa and Maurice hail from musical backgrounds and have a vast sense of service to the community and are passionate about supporting, nurturing and providing platforms for young musicians to perform. Since then the deposit has continued to grow from strength to strength, introducing some immense new brands to our place such as Charvel, retch, Drum Craft, ASL straps, LP and Guild impartial to name a few, in addition to offering group lessons and launching their online store. We are a passionate group of people who love playing music, supporting our community through music and providing immense range of product and service to our customers.
